I've been handing things off to AI one by one, and this week was a particularly good one. Here's what actually got done.

The biggest project was my website. I had AI build out a full bilingual blog — Chinese and English — and upload all my old Xiaohongshu posts to it. Once I dialed in the translation style and voice, I saved it as a reusable skill, so every new article from here on goes through the same process without me re-explaining anything. I also set up an SEO skill so my English content gets optimized automatically. The blog now has filter tabs by topic, and I added a resources section where visitors can download my job hunting tracker and LinkedIn templates — but only after filling out a contact form. That way I actually know who's interested.

The financial planning piece has been a game changer. I uploaded our bank statements, investment property documents, and brokerage account info and turned it into a Financial Advisor skill. I used to use Vanguard's one-on-one advisory service — not cheap, and honestly not that valuable. Now AI helps me adjust our monthly investment budget and put together clear summaries of what we're spending and earning. It also helped me draft some very effective emails during a real estate negotiation I'm in the middle of right now. That alone was worth it.

I did the same thing with my medical records. I pulled my visit notes and patient portal summaries and fed them in. Now AI knows my diagnosis, my care team, my treatment history — all of it. When I need to request time off or follow up with a doctor, it drafts the message. I don't have to reconstruct everything from memory every single time.

One more small thing that's been surprisingly useful: I had AI write a Google Sheets app script that automatically converts RMB to USD whenever I update my spreadsheet. I buy things from China and ship them over regularly, and manually looking up the exchange rate every time was just annoying. Now it's just there.

Honestly, the more I use AI for this stuff, the more I realize how much time I was wasting on things that didn't need my brain at all. The question I keep asking myself now is: does this actually require me, or can AI handle it? More often than not, it can.
